The new camera is very addicting! Its exetremely easy to fill up a 2 GB memory card just by holding down the shutter release! These are a few (a few?!) pictures I have taken that I really like. I hope you enjoy.

OK OK.... so this is ANOTHER hummingbird picture. I like how its just sitting there...

Cows and Hawks......

A hawk.

Two Hawks in formation... Or as I like to say, Raptor formation flight.

another hawk.

and another.

Here's a cool shot of a hawk leaving the perimeter fence.

If I weren't moving in a vehicle, and shooting through the window I probably could have gotten it in focus. Very..... American Flagish (you know... how the eagle is in that pose on top of some Flag Poles).

My personal favorite.

"Space.... The Final Frontier...." Ok, so on midnights I set my camera up and took pictures of the stars.

The Pleiades....

The Constellation Orion.

wider angle of the stars.

another wide angle with the Pleiades...

Betelgeuse (The top left star of the Orion Constellation)

Bellatrix (The top Right star of the Orion Constellation)

Rigel (The Bottom Right star of the Constellation Orion)

and Orion's Sword

more stars.

So this is a repeat picture. This was taken with the OLD CAMERA (and it has been previously posted). So I decided to RETAKE the picture with the new camera.

This is the retake with the new camera. I want honest comments on which one you like better.

Again... this is an old picture taken with the OLD CAMERA.

Here is an updated shot with the new camera...

OK, since I get to take a ton of pictures at work here are some of the things I see. Here is the terminal building from RWY 16R-34L.

Here Southwest is landing. If I hadn't been hurrying to get the camera up the shot might have been a little bit crisper. Oh well...

B-24 Liberator "Diamond 'Lil" taking off RWY 10.

Diamond 'Lil returning to Midland.................

Southwest taking off RWY 10. You can see our ATC Tower behind it.

rotating....

& leaving the ground...

Another Southwest flight departing MAF.

Gotta love burst mode.

more of the same.... I'm sure to you guys think this is boring... but to me it never gets old. And since this is MY photoblog I'll post it...

again, leaving the ground...

And another shot of it with our tower behind it.

NetJets' Cessna 560XL sitting on our ramp.

"Big Tex Aviation" sitting on our ramp.... Texas sure is a proud state.

Landing

taxiing to the gate.

Southwest pushing back. This was taken from their Jetway.

Another Southwest on final approach to RWY 10.

American Eagle over flight as it departs RWY 10.

same plane different shot.

Like I said... You gotta love the burst mode.

Same with Southwest.

again... good ole' burst mode.

2 Comments:

  • "Southwest pushing back" is my favorite. That one is well framed.

Overall, I really like the Canon's shots over the HP's. Excellent buy!

  • The first one of the tails of the planes is better, I think, but that's probably because they're not exactly the same picture. The first one doesn't have all the runway and extra stuff at the bottom like the second one does.

Although, of the airport at night, the second one is MUCH better to me -- mainly because of the beams of light from the lights at the airport. They're kind of muddled and pixely (sp?) in the first, whereas in the second, they're WAY cleaner.
