Well, a lot has happened since I last posted. So I will begin with the first event and then move on. I first went to Chattanooga for the airport's Disaster Drill. While I was there I was fortunate to get some pictures. Two weeks later I was in Memphis for their drill. Both drills taught me more about how to handle an emergency on an airport. Needless to say it was worth missing class for!

CHATTANOOGA DRILL

In order to get to the Chattanooga drill, we had to leave Murfreesboro around 3 in the morning! This picture was taken at 3:20 A.M. It was EXETREMELY difficult to wake up! These are three friends that I rode down to Chattanooga with.

When we got down there they broke us up into different groups: Critical, Walking Wounded, and Dead. I was critical. So I have a little soot on my face. HA!

This is what they did to my back! I had third degree burns on the majority of my back (How I got them I don't know). Yes, they cut a hole in my shirt!

These are some pictures of what they did to some others.

One word: Interesting!

This is Julie Beadle (Operations Duty Manager) from Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority. I used to be an intern at MEM and she was in Chatt. to evaluate their drill.

This is on the "aircraft" (Bus) just before it the drill started. The scenario is that an employee takes a fuel truck and ran it into a taxiing aircraft.

This is the "aircraft" (bus) smoking after impact. You can see the generator hooked up that caused the smoke.

Here I am laying on the runway, in the cold rain! AND, remember my shirt has a HUGE hole in the back!

BODIES EVERYWHERE!!!!

I personally like this! This guy got really into it!

After the drill we went to Wal-Mart so we could buy some clothes to get back to Murfreesboro in (we didn't know that we needed to bring an extra pair of clothes!). This is in the Wal-Mart parking lot of Joey with this scraped elbow (make up) and blood dripping from his mouth onto his shirt.

As I said, Julie invited me to Memphis' Drill after Chattanooga's. There I was the "Official Photographer" (Had the vest and badge!). Their scenario was two aircraft collide (One cargo and one passenger) and fall into McKellar Park onto A-1 (Fire Dept's truck). Since my job was just to take pictures, I got a TON of them! I will only share with you the best of them. I hope you enjoy.

MEMPHIS DRILL!

This is how you make fake blood: Karo Syrup, Red food coloring with a touch of blue.

This is what I made.

Vomit! Graham Crackers, Oat Meal, and Maple Syrup (for flavor!).

And this is what it looks like before it went to the victims.

Getting ready!

Now that the scene is finally secured, Chief Boyd relaxes.

Oh, he shouldn't relax THAT much!

Thats pretty much it. The event lasted for about 2 hours and then was over. When we finally rapped up we went and debriefed and then went to East Inn Grill for a "Board Meeting" to relax and get drunk after an eventful day! Oh what fun!
