Mac's Random Photos

I've been trying out my new camera. Since this is such an advanced camera its taking me some time to adjust and learn its features. I could either read the instruction manual to learn how to use it, or I can just start using the camera and playing around with it until it does something I like. I chose to do the latter and use the instruction manual as a reference. Here are some shots I got.

This was taken at Midland Airpark (MDD) which is the GA airport right across from my apartment.

Here American Eagle flew right over my head for final approach to RWY 10 at Midland International (MAF).

Looks like the Vulture thinks I'm a little frail so it started circling overhead.... I best move on...

Aircraft taking off from RWY 10 at MAF.

Using the burst mode I captured Southwest departing RWY 10.

So the other day I was at Wal-Mart (America's Super Store!!!! and the Democrats can get over it!) shopping when I decided to buy a hummingbird feeder since I noticed hummingbirds hanging around my apartment. I got home, mixed up some "nectar" and hung it on my porch. I figured it would be a good "photo op" for any birds who drank from it.

Here is one of them now. I used the flash which made it show up brighter. Like I said, I'm still learning.

Another.

My shutter was being opened for too long. The feeder is crisp but the bird is blurred because they just move to fast!

Another example at how fast they move.

I caught one sitting still with its mouth open!

I liked this shot too but still the shutter was open for a little too long.

The following are all taken consecutively with the burst mode on. I set the shutter speed to 1/1600 of second. I was able to capture the wings pretty much still.

And finally touchdown!

Enjoying the nectar.

And ready to depart!

And gone in a flash!

Later the hummingbird came back when I was sitting outside.

I think this is my favorite shot.
