Midland Texas Interview

I went to Midland, Texas for an interview at the Midland International Airport. I had a good time down there. These pictures are only a portion of what I took.

I took this picture just after takeoff from Memphis International Airport.

The ballpark near the center of this picture is Autozone Park.

This is FedEx Forum (Home of the Memphis Grizzlies) and Beale Steet.

As I was approaching Midland, I started to notice this strange pattern on the ground. These are oil fields. Lots and lots of oil fields!

One of the first things I did in Midland, TX (other than eating a Whataburger) was to go to the Commerative Air Force (Formerly known as the Confederate Air Force) American Airpower Heritage Museum.

This is FiFi, the only B-29 still flying (currently she is being worked on so she isn't flying).

This is "Diamond Lil" the B-24.

This is a movie prop of Manfred von Richthofen's Fokker Dr 1 (The Red Baron).

P-82 Twin Mustang.

This is the Royal Air Force's Avro Shackleton with Rolls Royce Griffin Engines (2500 Horsepower each). Notice that the engines have a second prop behind the first. That is because this is a counter-rotating prop.

Another picture of the Shackleton only outside.

This is a HUGE tire for that aircraft!

Here is the replacement for it.

C-46 "The Tinker Belle".

Anti Aircraft Gun in front of the Museum.

The famous West Texas Sunset. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the telephone poles out of my way.

This is a Misquite tree.

and Prairie grass (I don't know what to call it so I call it that). Funny story about this picture. I walked into this field behind the hotel to take a picture of the sunset and then I started taking these pictures. Thats when I realized where I was and that RATTLESNAKES liked to hide in prairie grass! Needless to say I walked VERY carefully out of the field. If I had heard a rattle (even a baby's rattle) I probably would have peed in my pants!

Lots and lots of Prickly Pear Cacti (definately don't get near that b/c of thorns, AND rattlesnakes like to hide in there to eat animals that chew on the cactus)!

Well, after the interview it was time for me to leave. I got this shot right at takeoff of the Airport Terminal. The terminal building is not very old and is a very nice looking terminal. Southwest is their primary carrier.

Interesting clouds while flying back home.
